Lately, I've really been thankful for our marriage. It's really been a gift from the Lord these last {almost} 3 years! Hart is THE best husband that I could have ever have dreamed of. We go together like shooby doowop shebop! Seeing him be the daddy he is to Micaiah, well, it's just more than amazing!
Today was SC Football. Today was the 2nd day in a row that I barely slept the night before, and the thought of 4 hours without him was kind of unbearable. We went over to his parents house to watch the game, but he was most certainly a husband first and a daddy second, all while watching those Cocks win! He made sure that I was taken care of, that Micaiah wasn't too much for me, and that I got a much needed break, allowing me to sit by the pool in the sun talking to friends. He's sweet like that and he makes us his first priority on this earth.
If you know Hart, you know he loves USC football, but more than that Hart is a godly man. He loves Jesus.
My mama prayed for Hart for many many years before we actually met. When I was sick in the hospital, when we had only been dating not even a month, Hart would come and sit by my bed and pray for me. He would read his Bible while I was in the lowest place in life I had ever been and I barely knew him then. I knew he was tall and cute, that's for sure, but I did NOT know that he would be my husband, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why he would want to hang out with a girl as sick as I was. God had told Hart that I was going to be his wife. I'm glad he was listening to Him!
Most of you know our story, but some of you do not. We like to say that God just "threw" us together. He sent us through the fire with my health issues in the first year of our dating life, and at some point that first year, Hart and I sat down and said to each other... "Well, I think if we can go through that together, then by God's grace, we can go through life together!"
So here we are, {almost} 6 years later (we dated/were engaged for 3), with a 13 month old blessing baby and we love each other the way God wants us to, by his daily grace.
Marriage is tough, but you are there for each other, always.
I don't know what godly examples you have of marriage in your life, but I have been blessed with one that is beyond words. My grandparents, Don and Ali McCune, were married to each other for 69 years, before my Grampie passed away. My memories of them are beautiful. They were always singing to Jesus, holding each other's hands, reading their Bibles, and laughing. They were prayer warriors and would just randomly break out in prayer to Jesus or give praise to Him in whatever they were doing. They loved each other so very much and showed that love to all of us, too. Every single time I think of them, I smile. I found this video (one I don't even think my mom has seen) of a visit out to see them one day back in college. I hope you can see some of the reasons why I am the way I am today. It's because of Jesus at work in their lives and the spiritual heritage that I have through them.
"And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation." Luke 1:50

Our Marriage
1.26.2011
This past Monday morning my Gramie had a stroke. She was supposed to be moved to an assisted living place from the rehabilitation center that day. She had a really pretty sunny corner room with big windows. I got the call an hour and 25 minutes after the nurse found my Gramie. We all rushed to the hospital to see her and it really wasn't looking good. She isn't able to do much at all. She can't talk, but she can open her eyes, and has slight control of her left side. Honestly, this is the worst that I have ever seen my Gramie. Last night, I went and visited and I put lotion on her hands and feet, something that she always loved, and afterwards, she lifted up her left hand, spread her fingers, and looked at me. She also moved her hand up towards her oxygen tubes and I realized that one of the tubes was pressing into her face, so when I moved that she seemed to like that. My mom and I said prayers with her and we talked to her, and told her how much we loved her. It's times like these that you wonder why Jesus just didn't take her to Heaven to be with Him. I think the good thing is that through this suffering, I know that Jesus is refining her. She will get to be with Him soon, because she was a woman that loved God with all her heart, soul, and mind.
Another sad event has occurred this week. Sage, Hart's parent's golden retriever, passed away. He died right in the den with Harry and Jane around him. Hart went over to help bury him under the banana trees where he loved to sit in the cool shade on hot summer days. This was a well-loved dog and lots of tears were shed. Sage was part of the family, and we all are going to miss his happy little self, especially Abe.
In all of this, I am reminded that God is sovereign. He loves us. I can say that, because I know his word tells us so, and I have seen Him be the amazing God that he is in the good times and the rough.
Please pray this week:
-For my Gramie, the family has difficult decisions to make regarding certain issues
-For my mother in law, Jane. She is having surgery on Thursday to repair two discs in her spine that have deteriorated causing numbness in both arms.

Having a baby is one way to make you feel like you are getting older or to make you actually face the fact that you are an adult. Visiting a nursing home is one way to make you face the fact that you are going to get old and gray. I've been faced with the idea of getting older the last couple weeks. My grandma (91) went into the hospital and is now at a transitional unit rehabilitation center. Visiting at the hospital wasn't as much as a confrontation with the fact that you will be old-and-gray-whether-you-like-it-or-not. While there did seem to be a lot of other elderly on her medical floor, you can't see in all the rooms and there are other people that are there, of all ages healing. However, last night I went to the rehabilitation center for the first time.
You know the helpless scene.
Lots of old people just sitting around. Some slooped over drooling barely holding their heads up. Gray hair, balding. You are confronted with faility. One lady actually slipped out of her wheel chair while I was there and had to have help getting up. Walking down the hall, there's that smell. It's the smell of old people and urine. It's hot, because old people like it hot, because they are always cold. And then the food. It's gross mashed up food. Then, you walk in the door of your grandma's room and you have one thought on your mind. Get this person that I love out of this depressing place!
My Gramie is awesome. She is young at heart. She always wears earrings everywhere she goes and red lipstick. She's got to have color on. She wears bracelets and beaded necklaces layered and they don't have to match. She loves Jesus and breaks out in prayer all the time. She reaches out and touches whoever she wants to talk to and she makes people take a second to talk to her. She smiles at others and everyone thinks she's just cute as a button!
We spent some time just hanging out, me and her, last night. She is in pain, but prayerfully, she will be able to leave that place sooner than later. I think she is there for one reason and that is to pray for the other people. She admitted she thought that was true, too.
If you guys would please pray for my Gramie. If you have met her, you know how cute she is. She needs to get out of that rehabilitation center and into a better place, and I don't think that place is Heaven quite yet. My mom and I are working together to make that happen soon. I don't care for the staff at this place, minus her night nurse last night, who actually seemed to care and do her job well.
I will keep you posted. In the mean time, I'm going to thank God that I have health in my body, and go clean my house.
