3 Year Wedding Anniversary Trip

12.10.2011

I am so blessed to have an AMAZING godly husband. Hart and I cherish one another and we were able to get away for one night to Charleston, SC to celebrate being married for 3 years! Marriage is so important to us and investing and strengthening it is more important to us than many other things. We are thankful that from the beginning, we have put Christ at the center of it. We praise the Lord for these 3 years that have been so full of joy, struggles, and yet so much beauty.
We left early last Friday morning and headed down to this sweet historical city. It is special to us, because it is the place that we got engaged. We arrived around lunch, so we walked around all around downtown, shopping at our two favorite stores:
Pottery Barn
And the Apple Store.
We ended up at Fleet Landing for lunch and had a GREAT time together eating crabcake burgers and fried green tomato blts! It seems that if you tell restaurants it is your anniversary, they treat you extra nice!
Our table had spectacular views and we were right across from where we got engaged!
After lunch, we headed over to Waterfront Park and reminisced about the day that Hart asked be to be his wife! I can honestly say that I am happier today than that day we got engaged. I love being married to my sweet husband!
He even got down on one knee again for me! After we got engaged, the first time around...jk, we went over to the water, asked some random couple to take our picture. We repeated that 3 years later, too!
After that we headed over to the swings and enjoyed the cool breeze and sitting next to each other smooching and holding hands.
We walked through the market next and bought a Christmas ornament...kind of our trademark tradition since our anniversary is so close to Christmas.
I cannot believe how talented these woman are that make these sweet grass baskets! After that, we decided we better go check in to our hotel which was located at the Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms. We got an AMAZING deal on our room on cyber monday!
I'm kind of particular about hotels. To be honest, I'm kind of snob when it comes to it. I would rather stay somewhere NICE for 1 night, than a bunch of nights in a crappy scary motel. So that is what we did! Our room was ocean front with spectacular views, too. The only downside it was kind of noisy and you could hear a lot going on in the hotel through seemingly thin walls.
Hart and I went to dinner that night, which was REALLY nice! We went to Hanks and enjoyed seriously the best food ever. No lie. Thank you Susan for the recommendation!
Hart had flowers delivered to our table and they were beautiful! He had this written on the card:
"Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your life, because that is your portion in life and your reward at which you toil under the sun." paraphrase from Ecclesiastes 9:9
Then, it said:
"Vanessa, you are my reward. I love you."

Pretty sweet, huh?
The next day, I started getting a little sick with a sore throat, but we enjoyed a little walk on the beach and then some yummy breakfast at Hominy Grill. We headed home, but made sure to hit up the outlet mall, before completely leaving Charleston! They had a Jcrew and quite a lot on sale. I had $80 to spend and bought Hart a nice flannel shirt and myself 2 shirts, which I am loving quite a lot. I love me some jcrew!
We made memories and enjoyed spending time together! Happy Anniversary sweet husband of mine! I look forward to 60 more!
